Responsible for approving/acceptance of new requests for insurance cover from both new and existing customers. Includes applying underwriting principles and procedures where the company is considering underwriting new risks or modifying existing contracts/buyers. Uses financial analysis techniques in assessing risk exposure of potential new cover and in assessing existing risks.

• Portfolio may include domestic market and/or non-domestic including political risk markets
• Applies underwriting knowledge and principles to identify and manage portfolio exposure
• Responsible for setting underwriting strategy for each known buyer group/buyer/sector/country portfolio/class of risk/customer/holding within delegated authorities
• Responsible for compliance with internal procedures including recording of decisions for use by both internal and external customers
• Responsible for monitoring the development of the portfolio and modification of buyer underwriting risk management approach in the assessment of risks
• Ensures proactive action is taken to compensate for economic upturns or downturns on a market, industry or sector basis, in order to optimize the claims ratio
• Buyer meetings in order to get information about financial performance and latest market trends
• Customer meetings to explain credit limit decisions and discuss sector/market development

Qualifications/Job requirements

·      BSc & MSc/MBA in Finance, Risk Management or any relative fields

·      5+ years of experience in risk underwriting, credit management or financial analysis

·      Good understanding of financials statements

·      Ability to establish relationship with the top management of companies

·      Knowledge of the financial or insurance sector is an advantage

·      Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills

·      Promotes teamwork and works to establish consensus among team members

·      Solid knowledge of MS Office applications

·      Availability and willingness to travel

·      Excellent written and verbal communication in Greek and English

·      Completes own role independently or with minimal supervision/guidance

·      May co-ordinate/supervise activities of individuals/the team
